Iman Ridzuan

Hello there my beautiful readers!

I have always preferred shawls over bawals for their versatility, and I often got tons of questions from strangers on instagram and from friends in real life on how I style my shawl. Now since my friends and family members have been pushing me to create a youtube channel, I present you, my first youtube video! I figured a shawl tutorial would be a perfect content to start with.

Now these 3 shawl styles are my go to for classes and outings. The first picture is probably my most favourite one, and you might notice that if you scroll over my instagram pictures. Because it is so easy and literally take seconds lol. It takes a longer time in my video because I am not used to be so far apart from the mirror hahaha.

I had fun creating this video although the process of getting it done (shooting, editing, rendering) takes forever! Hats off to all youtubers, it is really a hard work. This video takes me a whole day to finish! And I am still learning on especially editing. I would say that I am a pro with editing photos, but videos are a whole another story lol. Self teaching and learning will take a long time, but I'll try! Pray for me on this new journey! I hope to create quality contents for you guys in the future, and if you have any suggestions and requests, feel free to comment. Now grab your popcorn and enjoy!

Help your homegirl please, like and subscribe to my new channel hihi. Love you all <3

Hello! Today's post is going to be about my absolute favorites for the current being. I have certain products that I've talked about before so it's more like a rediscovery favorite. Keep on reading!

Satin Pillow Case

Satin pillow case is definitely a life changer for your hair! I’ve always read on how better they are versus cotton ones for your hair, and I’m so glad that I experienced it myself. I wake up with less frizzy and more manageable hair in the morning. Usually with cotton pillow cases, I’ll wake up with kinked hair because they’re just too rough for my hair. But with this one my natural waves just fall into place neatly. Gosh I hope you can understand my explanation. But my verdict is, I think everyone should change their pillow cases now! It's definitely softer and better for your skin too if you're a slide sleeper. I got mine from Spotlight. They’re a tad bit pricier than normal cotton pillow cases, sure. But it is definitely worth every penny.

Good Virtues & Co. Hair Serum

I had to chop off a few inches of my hair because my hairdresser told me that the ends are quite damaged. For someone who doesn’t use hot tools for her hair at all, I find it really weird. She asked if I used any serums for my hair and all I used for treatment, other than my normal shampoo and conditioner is just my 100% Argan Oil. She told me that oil isn’t really the best for our hair, but serum is. Something to do with the absorption rate, which kind of makes sense because yeah, sure my hair was better than not using the oil at all, but it wasn’t the best. So I went to the drugstore and picked up my old trusty hair serum that I know would work just as good if not better for my locks. Pfft, I have no idea why did I ever stopped using it. You can read the full review that I wrote a while back here!

Eucerin White Therapy Cleansing Gel

My absolute favourite drugstore gel cleanser! You know how I loveee the Mario Badescu cleansing gel, but that can quite break the bank sometimes, so I had to look for a cheaper alternative. It was an accidental find for me because I tried one that belongs to my sister lol. I didn’t realise it at first, but after about a month of using it I realise that my acne scars were fading fairly quickly. I refused to believe it at first, because I never think a cleanser can do that much apart from cleansing and it must be other products that I was using at that moment. But to be fair, it was the only product that I recently changed in my routine. So I looked up online and to my surprise, it does claim to brighten hyperpigmentation. My scars usually takes foreeeever to lighten up, so this cleanser had since then become one of my favourites!

Holika Holika Water Drop Tint Bomb

This was a gift from my lovely friend, Eika. She got it when she was in Korea, (Thank you darl!) and ohhh my god. I love it! This is a lip tint, in a stick form. The color that I got is in #1 Cherry Water which is a very wearable and natural red. I usually use this for a full lip color and I’m good to go. If I want a little something, I’ll add other darker lipstick on the inner part of my lips for that gradient effect. It doesn’t add any moisture nor dryness to my lips. It feels like the stick melts into water when you glide this on the lips, which feels very interesting. And I loveeee how the stick is shaped into a water drop. It makes the application so easy. The only thing is that you should apply lip balm after you put this on, not before. Or else the color won’t really transfer well onto your lips.

Johnson & Johnson's Oxygen Fresh Gel Lotion

I love to moisturize my hands, but I just can’t stand the greasy feeling of a lot of hand creams in the market. Aloe vera gel is not doing enough for my dry hands. This one, is just perfect! Love the smell, love how fast it absorbs into your skin without greasy feeling because it’s completely oil free!

I hope it is not too late to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya! How was your Raya? I hope you had a blast.

Anyway, I have several beauty products that I have used up so I thought I should share briefly about them, whether they are a hit or a miss. Yes, I keep the empty bottles and jars just for you guys okay. haha!

1. Dove Nourishing Oil Care Nutri-oil Serum. RM21

I loveee this hair serum. It works wonderfully at keeping my hair frizz free. Typically I would use this after I towel dried my hair, twice a day. I always leaves my hair feeling soft and more manageable. Definitely a hit and will repurchase.

2. Sheet masks. 4 for RM10

I have also used up a couple of sheet masks. These masks are always available at SaSa for RM10 for 4 sheets. A very good deal if you are like me who always love to pamper my skin from time to time with sheet masks. Usually I have no complain for all of their sheet masks, but I have to say that I really enjoyed the Snail Mucus Rejuvenating Face Mask from Sasatinnie. I put that on after a blackhead extraction session and it really helped to reduce the redness and calm my skin. So the next time you want to buy sheet masks from Sasa, I recommend you to give the snail mucus a shot. Trust me, it's not as gross as it sounds.

3. Garnier White Sakura Pinkish Radiance Essence. RM28

To be honest, I did not used this one up. But let's just consider it done since it has been left untouched for months till I finally decided to toss this one out. I kept finding ways to make this cream work because there is still a lot left in the jar but I just can't. I breaks me out, didn't give any positive improvement on my skin and it actually darken my skin even more. I have no idea why. I do love their yellow line though, however the sakura line just don't work for my skin.

4. Petitfee Black Pearl & Gold Hydrogel Eye Patches. RM35 at Althea

These are just like the typical eye mask, but I like to use it as a replacement for eye creams and sometimes over the eye cream for additional benefits while I sleep. It contains 60 eye patches, good for 2 months if you use it for every single night. The patches are soaked in essence goodness and totally dried up when you wake up in the morning. I did see slight improvement on my dark circles, and it does help to moisturize the undereyes pretty well. However, it would be a bad idea to travel with it because I did once, and the essence just leaked like nobody's business in my luggage even though I made sure to close it really tightly beforehand. But other than, it's an okay product. Not a must have though.

5. Soffya Collagen Eye Cream

This is a local brand skincare that I actually swear by for my eyes, because it is just so good! I saw improvements on my dark circles in less than 2 weeks, which is usually very hard to achieve by those drugstore or even high end eye creams that I've tried before. Nothing beats this one. You can obviously see that I love it so much that I scrape every single bits left till the jar is tottaly empty now lol. But no worries, I have already purchased a backup. I would say just give it a try, it's not even expensive. Plus they are having promotions now, so go ahead and check out their instagram at @soffyamy. It's organic, so why not?

1. Dove Nourishing Oil Care Hair Serum

I love to use this hair serum right after I towel dried my hair. That means I'll apply this serum when my hair is still damp and almost dry. This leaves my hair feeling so soft and smooth plus it makes my hair frizz free when it fully dries and more managable! For the price of RM20++, you really can't go wrong with this hair serum.

2. Garnier Light Comlete Multi-Action Whitening Cream

I have quite a sensitive skin so it is hard for me to find a good moisturizer that won't break me out. This one fortunately, doesn't break me out at all. It doesn't doesn't really have an amazing moisturizing ability but I find it great in controlling the oil production of my skin. Furthermore I find that it really helps with brightening my acne scars and my overall complexion. The SPF17 is a plus point, but of course I do still need extra protection from the sun. Can't skip sunblock!

3. Hada Labo Tamagohada AHA and BHA Cream Cleanser

There are two versions of this cleanser, which is the foaming type ( blue round bottle) and this one, the cream version that comes in blue tube. I was debating whether to get the foaming version or the cream version at first, so I go ahead and pick the cream version because it's a little cheaper considering that I just want to give it a try first, (typical Asian cheapskate hehe) and oh my god I just fall in love with this cleanser immediately! The AHA and BHA acids in this cleanser helps with my clogged pores so much that my skin has now calm down from the breakouts that I'm having. What I really love about it is that it doesn't have any useless stuff that other companies always put in their products naming alcohol, fragrance, colorant and mineral oil. So it is really great for people with sensitive skin. It doesn't leave my skin a dry and tight feeling after washing, and it's really easy to rinse off. This retails at RM27++

4. Vietnam Pore Mask

If you're suffering from blackheads and whiteheads, you should really check this baby out if you haven't yet. This literally takes EVERYTHING out from your pores. The application can be a little messy, it's like applying glue on your face. And then you will need to stick the tissue paper thingy onto the glue on your face and just wait for it to dry, then pull. You will be amazed on how much blackheads or whiteheads this pore mask pick out. May I warn you that it can be quite painful to take off at first, but you will get used to it. Beauty is Pain, right? You can simply get this at any local beauty stores or insta shops. Just type in #vietnammask on the search bar. Price ranges about RM7-10. So worth it!

I know how good those Jack n Jill crackers are, and those delicious Mister Potato Chips that we always munch on while we are watching movies, reading. But those kind of junk foods can be really bad for your health, and your skin, hair and nails. They contain a lot of preservatives that can cause problems such as hair loss, brittle nails, and dry skin in a long run. So why don't we try to change those snacks into some healthier ones that are actually good for or health and appearance? Keep on reading to know some healthy and delicious snacks for a better replacement!

1. Almond

Raise your hands if you love almond nuts like I do! I'll never miss buying packets of salted almonds, honey coated almonds and sugared almonds from petrol stations when I know I'll be in car for long. Who knows such a simple snack can actually be good for your hair and nails? Almonds are very rich in calcium, which is beneficial for strong bones, teeth and of course, our nails. So if you crave for that strong, shiny looking nails, start consuming almonds regularly! They are also rich in Biotin, that can also help to strengthen the hair and nails.

2. Salad

The greens, which most of us tried to avoid putting inside our body when we were a child, but then we start to love as we grow older. We all know that there are abundant of vitamins that you can obtain from the vegetables, such as A, C, E, K and B. But for your information, the greens are also an important source of minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium. These trace minerals are very beneficial for your hair and nails. No wonder our parents forced us to consume them when we were little! If you still do not like the taste of vegetables alone, you can always spice it up with salad dressings such as tartar sauce or just drizzle some lemon juice and olive oil. Some good vegetables you can combine to make a salad are spinach, kale, broccoli, carrot, baby tomatoes, and cabbage. Add on almond nuts for extra crunch and benefit!

3. Banana

Bananas are very good for your skin, hair and nails because it is rich in potassium. For your information, deficiency of potassium in your body will lead to hair falls. Yikes! Something us girls really want to avoid. The potassium content is also great in keeping your skin hydrated and support the growth of new skin cells, hence preventing your skin from looking dull, and also fade away scarring. No wonder the minions love them so much!

4. Sushi

Of course we can consider sushi as a snack, can we? But not any sushi in particular, i'm talking about salmon! That's because sushi is the most common way to get salmon into your body, at least for me. hehe. Salmon is packed with omega-3 acid, which your body can't produce. So you can only get them by consuming fish like salmon, sardines and tuna. The Omega-3 acid will help to improve the appearance of our skin, hair and nails making them look a lot healthier and shinier.

5. Berries

The berries, such as strawberry, blueberry, cranberry and blackberry are sooo delicious and tasty especially when they just got out from the fridge. For your information, the berries are rich in B Vitamins that can promote hair growth by improving blood circulation and oxygenation on your scalp. Not only that, it also helps in broken capillaries by speeding up the healing process. So don't worry the next time you accidentally popped on a pimple. Just consume more berries!

So those are my top 5 healthy snacks for healthy skin, hair and nails. Don't forget that these snacks not only have variety of beauty benefits, but they are also good for your health! So, instead of swallowing all those supplements and pills, why don't you try our Mother Nature recipes first? It will cost you no harm! Just remember that the raw and organic ones are always the best. Good Luck!

Before I start off with the review, let me explain to you about my hair condition. I have a mid length, thick, naturally wavy hair which I love, but sometimes they can get really dry, especially at the ends and frizzy. That's the main problem for my hair, frizzy. I'm actually tired of trying every kinds of shampoo available at the pharmacies, from the cheapest to the luxurious ones that will make my hair less frizzy, until I found out that the main ingredient, Sulphate in shampoo might be the cause for the frizz in my hair.

The most common sulfates that are used in shampoos are Sodium Laryl Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) and Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS). You better check your shampoo now. The reasons why companies use these ingredients in the shampoo is because it is a cheap ingredient that helps your shampoo to leather up. However, it is bad for your hair because it strips away the natural oil produced from your hair, thus making your hair really dry, frizzy and brittle.

Therefore, when I saw word 'Sulfate Free' on the tube of this shampoo, I am totally attracted to it. Okay that's a lie, the first thing that made me attracted to this shampoo is the purple tube. Cute! This is actually my first time trying a Sulfate free shampoo, and I put quite a high expectation on it.

The Shampoo

I was actually surprised the first time I used this shampoo because it leathers up really well! For a sulfate free shampoo, I thought I need to use more of the product than regular shampoo to get my scalp really clean but I actually need just a thumb size of this shampoo per use. So one tube will actually last you quite a long time because you only need a small amount of the shampoo to wash your hair. For the scent, it smells really nice, like a sweet flowery scent, however it does not linger in your hair for too long.  The result is significant! I realize that my hair is a lot more tame, less frizzy and easier to manage, especially when I woke up in the morning, looking in the mirror and be like, "hey no more bed hair!". I got the shampoo for RM43.90 at Watsons. You can get it for cheaper during Sales.

The Conditioner

The product itself is really thick. To me it's just like a normal conditioner, but it does moisturize my hair really well and leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth. I don't even want to use any other conditioner for the shampoo though, I really feel like they complete each other and I have to use them together to get the best result. hehe. The conditioner have the same scent as the shampoo. This one also costs RM43.90 at Watsons.

Overall, this is really the best shampoo and conditioner that I've ever tried. Most regular shampoos out there will leave my hair feeling dry and frizzy, but not these babies. I will never let my hair touch any shampoos that contains sulfate in the ingredients anymore! Sulfate free shampoo sure do costs more than the regular ones but trust me, for the result that you're gonna get, it worth every cents. Time to change your shampoo! There's a lot of other brands out there that makes sulfate free shampoos that I'm sure your hair gonna love. Give it a try!

Pros:

  • Tames frizz
  • Not drying
  • Love the scent
  • Leathers up really well
  • Affordable

Cons :
  • None
Will I repurchase?
Totally!

I'm always on search for a good hair serum for the dry ends of my hair but ended up always being disappointed with what I bought. It's a different case with this one.
I picked up this hair serum randomly from Watsons counter a week ago when I was running out of my Etude House Silk Scarf Hair Serum. ( Which I did not really enjoy) And to my surprise, I'm quite liking it considering that it is really cheap as well. It costed me around RM15 for this 100ml bottle.

What attracts me the most on the packaging is the claim that it is free from Mineral Oil, Parabens and Synthetic colorants! Those ingredients can be damaging to your lovely locks.Plus, they don't do test on animal. That is a huge bonus for an animal lover like me. But as you can see from the ingredients listed, it's not 100% made from natural ingredients.

And it got such a cute bottle too, i'm in love.

The consistency of this serum is very runny, almost like an oil but it is not greasy on the hand and hair. My hair absorbs this serum really quickly. It smells really good too. This serum contains Black Seed, also known as Habbatus Sauda that is well known for its plenty healthy benefits. Google it! Usually I can't really stand the scent of Black Seed, but this product somehow makes me want to smell my hair every seconds. It's really sweet!

I usually only use half of a pump of this serum. One pump is too much for my mid length hair. It significantly reduces frizziness and dryness of my hair. The effect also lasts for all day. Sometimes will apply this serum before bed and I'll wake up with soft, frizz-free, easy-to-manage hair, That's why I love it so much.

Pros :
  • Very affordable
  • Controls frizz
  • Reduce dryness
  • Smells good
  • Makes your hair really soft
Cons :
  • Non so far
Will I repurchase?
Definitely!
