Iman Ridzuan

Another K Beauty! Some people can skip toners as they don't do much for their skin, but for me, a toner is an essential skincare product, just like a moisturizer.

A lot of toners tend to dry out my skin as they often contain alcohol in them. Alcohol isn't necessarily bad for your skin, it actually depends on your skin type. If you have dry skin, you should avoid alcohol though since it can be further drying. But if you have combination to oily skin, a little bit of alcohol should be okay as it can help to reduce the appearance of pores and help with oil control.

They have a few range of flowers for their toners, targeting for specific skin concerns. But the original rose water is the most popular, with the highest review, so I chose this. It is also said to be suitable for all skin type. It smells sooooo good. If you know me, you'll know that Rose is my favorite flower and my favorite scent. My perfume is usually rose based, ever since high school. Even my hand cream is usually rose scented. So yeah, it is not hard for me to choose from the variety lol.

This mamonde toner contains 90.97% rose water. The type of rose that they choose to create this is Damask Rose, which is believed to be the best among hundreds of other rose types. The roses are hand picked by trained experts in their farms to control the quality in early morning.

The toner itself is very watery, which is what I always prefer. This is because I love to use cotton pads to wipe the toner onto my skin. I find that that way, it helps to clean excess dirt or makeup that can't be removed by my cleanser. After doing that, I'll take a drop or two directly onto my palm and pat it into my skin. You can skip this part if you don't want to waste a lot of product at one use, but I just love the hydrating effect by doing so.

After about a month of using this toner, I find that it helps a lot in calming and soothing my skin when I do have breakout. I tend to have breakouts whenever I travel, be it by land or sky. But my skin is usually the worst after a flight. The dry air in the plane cause that. But with this toner, it helps to heal my breakouts faster than usual. The redness will be gone by a night. I can see why it is a very popular product in Korea.

Here is the ingredient list (If you can read hangul, lol)

I love how gentle it is on my skin. Even though it contains a little bit of alcohol, it doesn't gives an overly cooling effect nor stings my skin at all. Overall, this toner has become Top 2 of my favorite toner after Son & Park Beauty Water. Feels very relaxing yet refreshing after each use. It is not a miracle worker, but it does what it claims without having any bad side effects.

Lazada is back with another sale, and another blogger contest! If you've missed the last sale earlier this September, don't worry! Lazada Shopathon Sale will take place again in September 27 2018. Save this link here and grab your stuff when that paycheck arrives!

Select three of your favorite brands on Lazada and tell us why you love them.

1. Clarks

I used to actually work in a Clark store before during my free time as a part timer and had never regret the experience. I'll admit that I used to splurge more on skincare than my fashion items, but ever since I've tried Clarks' shoes, I never want to go back to normal shoes. The prices are so worth it given the benefits and technologies being put in the effort of making a design. Clarks' shoes are not just ordinary shoes, they are super comfortable and lasts very long too! I've had mine for years now. The thing with Clarks shoes is that the longer you wear it, the more comfier it will be. This is due to the material that is made from leather. So yeah! I was over the moon when I know Lazada brought in Clarks official store to their website. It is a lot easier for me to shop for them now since I already know my size. Sometimes, it is even cheaper than buying in stores too due to promo codes and promotions. Thank you Lazada!

2) Fujifilm

Yes you can even get a camera from Lazada. Amazing right? I get how it might be nerve wrecking to spend hundreds or thousands from an online shop on gadgets like these, but since this is an official store, you really don't need to worry about anything. Everything works just the same as in stores, if not easier. I have an instax camera, so it is very convenient for me to get the films here. Certain products even come with free shipping, so that is a steal!

3. Innisfree

Innisfree is definitely on my top list when it comes to skincare. Their products are so gentle, and affordable. However there is not much physical stores available especially where I am studying at, in Sarawak. So having Innisfree's official store in Lazada website helps a lot! I sometimes purchase my products here when they're having deals because you can really save a lot. There is not one product from Innisfree that I've tried and being disappointed. They really care about the quality of their products.

If you know Mario Badescu's drying lotion, you may already have an idea about how this product works. I am not sure if the ingredients are similar, but they seems pretty much the same visually and technically.

I bought this product from Althea, which is where I usually get my Korean beauty products from. It only costed me RM35. Now if this product works, that is definitely a steal because Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion costs about RM91 at Sephora! That's a huge difference if you ask me.

Banish those spots with Onsaemeein’s Magic Solution Skin Powder, a 2-in-1 solution made to target those pesky zits. This “magical” solution comes with a powder right at the bottom, topped up with an anti-bacterial solution at the top to really get treat blemishes, making them dry up and go away ASAP. Be sure to let it settle before using to for it to really work! - Althea website

As you can see, this product inside is separated into two parts. The pink magic powder settles at the bottom, and clear solution on top. You are not supposed to shake and combine the two to use it, but even if you do, they will automatically separates again after a few seconds. It comes in a glass bottle that to me is quite sturdy, but I am still cautious about travelling with it. I did a couple times and so far, no problem!

Salicylic Acid is one of the key ingredients in this product. I love Salicylic Acid for my pimples because it is so gentle for the skin. It helps to dissolve dead skin cells and excess sebum. Other than that, they also add Witch Hazel and Dryopteris Crassirhizoma extracts in it which are also beautiful ingredients to be used for acnes. Witch Hazel is good at minimizing the pores and soothes the skin, while the Dryopteris Crassirhizome extract helps in keeping the skin clear and healthy.

So to use this product, you have to use a q-tip. In my country, it is more common to be called as cotton bud. So take your cotton bud, and then just dip it into the bottle, through the clear solution to get some of the pink powder. The pink powder will stick to the cotton bud, so just take it out through the clear solution again, and directly apply it to your problematic areas. If you need to add more, please make sure to use a new clean cotton bud. Don't redip the used one to avoid contamination of the product. I mean, you if you already touched your skin with the cotton bud, you're basically going to transfer the acne bacteria to the product if you do redip it again in the bottle. Yikes. I would suggest to use this product at night when you're sleeping because the pink spots can look a little bit silly on the face hahaha. But if you're not going anywhere during the day, feel free to use it.

It feels a little bit cooling, but not too much when it touches the skin, probably the Witch Hazel. I don't notice any strong scents so that's good. Does it work though? Yes! A hundred percent. But, I would say it works better for acnes that are reddened and sits beneath your skin. You know, those type of acnes that you can't pop? Yes, it works best for that. Sometimes it takes just one night for it to shrink. For acnes that you can pop, meaning those ones that contain pus in it, it will take longer to shrink, about 2-3 nights.

Other than clearing the zits, this product also claims to :

- Brightens darkness
- Improves elasticity of the skin
- Plumps up fine lines

I have used this product for a little over two months, but I can't really notice any other difference except for it helping me to clear the acne. It may not brightens darkness, but it also doesn't leave me with nasty patchy or dark scars. The acnes just come down gently and naturally. It can be a little bit drying for the skin, but as long as you moisturize well beforehand, you're good to go.

The acne significantly got smaller and flatter in just one night!

Will I recommend? Absolutely yes! Especially if you're looking for a dupe for that Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. I honestly have never tried that one, but why should I since this one works just like its name, magic! With more than half of the price.

I thought I would never be a fan of micellar water. I knew they work great, because I got a sample of Bioderma's micellar water back then, but I didn't think that it would be a life changer for me. I'm more towards oil cleansers when it comes to removing my makeup. I thought it would be troublesome because you would also need to use cotton pads with micellar water. Until my friend introduced this babe to me haha.

Bioderma used to be the thang, but they're so expensive for everyone to be able to enjoy. So when Garnier came up with their own, they pretty much own the customers when someone mentions the word "Micellar Water". Almost everyone I know owns it. At least in my country here in Malaysia. I didn't bother to try it at first. But my friend who have an amazing skin told me that she uses this everytime before she cleanse her skin, even if she's not wearing makeup, I thought I would give it a try. And I never regret!

First of all, just in case if yall don't know what a micellar water is supposed to do for the skin and how is it different than just a normal water? It's not a type of element that exists in water, it is actually a mix of purified water, mild surfectants and hydrating elements. The word micellar itself means that the water is made of oil micelles (tiny cells) suspended in soft water that are supposed to act like magnet and attracts all of the dirts, oil, dusts, grimes and other nasty things on your skin without drying your skin, which where the hydrating ingredients play part. For instance, Glycerin.

Now, let's get to the review of this bebe. Actually there's nothing much to talk about it, because it is very self explanatory. It is water, that cleanse your skin. LOL. But okay, I'll try to get to the bottom of this thing, judging it in terms of the performance of the brand, because I've used the Bioderma one, which is the mother of all micellar water, so I can compare.

It is so cheap. Like, really cheap if you ask me. It is only around RM28 ($6) for this huge bottle of 400ml. I mean, for the technology? HECK YEAH! And we all know how Watsons and Guardian are huge competitors, so they always have this on sale since it is one of their best selling products. You can buy the smaller bottle for like RM13 if you wanna test it out first.

img source : Google

They came out with a bunch of versions which you can choose for your skin type. I just picked the original one, which is in this pink cap, that is also suitable for sensitive skin. I've never tried the other versions, but my sister owns the yellow cap one, which is oil-infused and she loves it just as much. But I have no problem about this one that I am using.

It cleanses very well! It takes away my foundation, sunscreen, eyeshadow, my eyeliner, everything, except my waterproof mascara. I mean, it makes sense right? Only oil can take off waterproof mascara. But when I think back of when I was using Bioderma, that thing actually takes off my waterproof mascara, and it takes em off really well and fast. A lil confusing, but I mean. For Garnier's price? I really don't care much. I'll just use a separate eye makeup remover afterwards. As you can see from the third picture above, I did take most of the mascara off after vigorous rubbing. You do not want to do that onto your eyes though or else you'll create premature wrinkles.

I could settle with using my Biore oil cleanser to remove my makeup, but the thing is, I think that this micellar water helps to improve my skin. Ever since I've used it, it's pretty rare to get an acne. I pretty much used my frriend's advice, which is to use this before I wash my face. So even when I am not wearing makeup, I just use this to wipe away any dirt and oil and it makes my skin feel so fresh and clean. The best part is that you don't have to rinse it off if you don't want to, but I still do anyway since I am gonna wash my face with cleanser afterwards. But on lazy days where I don't feel liek doing my full skincare routine, I just wipe wipe wipe away my face with this, and clock off.

I am sooo recommending this to everyone! Yes you. You should own this, it will be a life changer. Go ahead to your nearest drugstore now, and don't forget about cotton pads too! Thank me later ;D

Pros :

  • Very afforable
  • Cleanses very well
  • Not greasy residue
  • No need to rinse
  • Don't break me out
  • Improves my skin texture
Cons :
  • Hard to remove waterproof mascara

I often call men as beautiful instead of handsome when they are really, really handsome. A handsome man is one thing, but when I say a man is beautiful, it means he is an art piece. Down below is my example of a beautiful man. Lee Donghae from Super Junior, HEHE. (img source : pinterest)

First thing first, you have to know about your skin type. Is it dry, normal, oily, or combination (some parts are dry and some parts are oily)? There is several ways to test this out, but to make it simple, I would suggest for you to take a simple quiz here.

Now gentlemen, there is no such thing as a body soap that can be used as face cleanser. If you do, please stop. Body soaps are so drying, and even if you have an oily skin, it will contribute to even more oil production on your face. This is because when you use body soaps, the foam created will take away all the oil on your skin surface. You may feel clean for a little while, but dehydrated too. When this happens, your brain will notice this dehydration and send signals to tell your body to secrete more oil to moisturize your skin, hence, overproduction of oil. So, let's get to the basic steps for your beauty starter pack. And for your own good, I'll suggest only drugstore products.

1) Cleanser

The beauty industry have grown a lot that men now have more options to choose their skincare. That's good! But don't just choose what's cheap or what's trending on twitter. Try to really understand what the product offers, and for what skin type. If you have normal or dry skin, choose gentler cleanser like gel cleanser. Because, like I said, foaming cleansers may dry out your skin even more. For combination to oily skin, you guys can use foaming cleansers. Don't worry, face cleansers are not drying as much as body soaps. A lot of foaming face cleansers nowadays have moisturizing ingredients. Especially if you're an everyday motorcycle rider, foaming cleansers will help to clean dust and dirt much better. Use cleanser twice a day ; in the morning and at night.

Suggestions :

Normal to dry : Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser RM21

Combination to oily : Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam RM33

2) Moisturizer

Finding the right moisturizer can be a little tricky, and may take a few trials and errors, especially if you're like me, a person with sensitive skin. For a start, choose a moisturizer that is simple. What I mean by simple is that it doesn't contain alcohol, fragrance or colorants that could be irritating for your skin. And if you can, find one that says SPF which means it will protect you from the sun. But if you can't, move on to the next step. Use moisturizer after cleanser, morning and night.

Suggestion : Nivea Men Daily Defense Moisturiser RM18

3) Sunscreen

This is not optional, you gotta have sunscreen. Boys, you guys play sports, ride motorbikes everyday without some SPF on? You'll damage your skin in the long run. Sunscreen is not used only to avoid skin tan and sunburn. The Sun is very damaging. Let me list some of the damages that it can do to your skin below.

Sun spots, sunburn, early signs of aging aka wrinkles, skin cancer, scaly patches, Actinic Keratosis, Rosacea.... I can go on and on with the list if you want.

So yes, sunscreen is very important. Be it for men or women. Like they always says, use protection! Use it at day time only. Reapply as needed (preferably every 2-3 hours)

Suggestion : Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence RM20

4) Lip Balm

I find so many men licking their lips when they have very dry, chapped lips. YOUR SALIVA IS NOT YOUR LIP BALM MY GOODNESS. Stop. You may think that you're moisturizing your lips lol, but you're so wrong. Our saliva contains enzymes, and they evaporates fast in the air, which will make your lips drier. Please don't get embarrassed to buy a lip balm. It's just a lip balm, it is not a girls only thing. Even my dad have his own lip balm, pls. You boys smoke cigarettes and pots a lot you may get lip cancer soon but at least try to take care of them while they're pretty still, ok?

Suggestion : In2it Lip Treat (Unless you want pink lips, choose the Vanilla one. It's colorless) RM7

To me, these 4 are the basics to men's skincare. Of course, the complete routine will be a lot complex, but these 4 are good for a start. And of course my product recommendations will not suit everyone because different products work for different people. If you have more budget, head on to professional skin counters like Clinique or Keihl's. There, you can ask from their trained and experience sales assistants for a guidance on your skincare starter. Usually they have a trial skincare set that suits your skin that you can purchase to try out first before buying the full size products. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask in the comment section below.

Last but not least, there is no use of a pretty face without a gentleman attitude instilled in you. That makes the whole package complete. Good luck! :D

Lazada is back with another blogger contest! This time, it is to celebrate the 9.9 Festival Sale that will be going on from 6-9 September 2018. Yes that is tomorrow so get your wallet ready guys! There will be sales up to 90% from a 100 different brands oh my god. To grab the sale, click on this link here!

Blogger Contest : All you ever wanted: pick three products on Lazada that you have always wanted to buy.

1. Luggage

Isn't this luggage is the cutest thing ever?! When I saw this, I just know that I REALLY REALLY want it. Being a student that often flies to another state of my country, a cute luggage would be perfect to excite up my travel. At least i would be happy to pack and unpack my stuff. I have never seen this exact luggage anywhere else but Lazada. I can't even choose a color because all of them are cute. Like my favorite color is pink, but in this case, it's really hard to make a choice. All of them look like yummy ice creams lol. It is pretty huge too at 20 inch. So you can really bring in a lot of stuff inside. And for the price? RM89 is a win. This is why I love Lazada. The prices are always too incredible to be true.

2. Rose Gold Hard Disk

Lazada literally sells everything, so it is not hard to find the exact thing that you want here. I've been looking for a portable drive but the ones that I often found in regular shops are generic, black and boring. A lot of you probably don't care about how your hard disk looks like, but for me, if I am paying for the same price or cheaper, might as well find one that suits my taste the best in terms of the color. This one is in rose gold, so it is a perfection. And 2TB? I can save all the teas if you do me wrong in here. Lol, just kidding! As a blogger, a hard disk is really important to save important files for the next contents that I will be posting on this site.

3. Sand And Sky Australian Pink Clay Mask

This ad for this product has been on my instagram almost everyday that it wins to attract me. I did some researches about it before and found out that a lot of people are actually loving it. It was a product from Australia, so I was surprised to find out that Lazada sells it. Although it sells a little cheaper than the original price, but it is  still a little expensive for me as a student. Let's pray so that I can get my hands on this beautiful product one day!

So, these 3 things are my top 3 items that I have always wanted to purchase from Lazada. Is it surprising to see that all of them have pinks in them? I'm such a basic girl lol. No complain though! What are your top 3? Comment down below!

As much as I wish I could try everything out there in the market, my sensitive skin tells me nah, so the products that I am going to mention, you probably have read about on my previous posts. That is because I do repurchase products that I believe in, a lot! Thank god a lot of them are from drugstore, so it doesn't break my bank too much hahaha. So shall we start?

1. Biore UV Perfect Face Milk

If you guys know me, you know how I loved this sunscreen so much. It was basically my baby. I would say it is a perfect sunscreen if you have an oily or combination skin. I did repurchase another bottle already, which means I am on my fifth bottle. Wow, right? What I really like about it is that it mattifies your skin so I don't bother putting on primer before makeup because this sunscreeen already acts as a good base.

However I feel like lately my skin is becoming pretty dry, so I switch up between this and my Innisfree Eco Safety Sunblock. The Innisfree one is a creamy sunblock so it doesn't mattify my skin like this one, which I much prefer at the moment. For the in depth review, click here.

2. Son & Park Beauty Water

This works soooo well than any other micellar water I've tried. It takes off even the most waterproof mascara that I own, very well without me having to rub my eyes. But I use this more as a toner than a makeup remover and I think that it does the job just as good. My skin doesn't react funnily to this, it loves it! It's basically everything you need in a toner, without any harsh ingredients like fragrance, alcohol or colouring. I've never get any break out from it. I am using another toner now, but I still think that this one is the best. Will definitely repurchase soon. Read the full review here.

3. Pixi Glow Tonic

I bought this one out of curiosity, because I've heard so many great things about it. I do think that it does the job well in giving gentle exfoliation. However, I find that it can be too much to be used twice a day. I will get acnes if I do, pretty sure due to overexfoliation with the glycolic acid content. So I usually only use this at night. I don't see any remarkable change on my skin, but then again, this is a small bottle. Maybe I should use it longer to see an impressive change, but as for now, I'm not a big fan and will repurchase the Son&Park Beauty Water instead.

4. Silkygirl Lash Prism Mascara

What else can I say about it? It's cheap, it works, and it's good! Definitely my favourite mascara from the drugstore. I love it so much for my lower lash line. The bristles really coat each of my lashes well and it's really black too. Very easy to remove and doesn't smudge at all throughout the day. It even beats a lot of cult favourites of high end brands that I own like the Too Faced Better Than Sex? Yeah, I like this one a lot better, and it's wayyyy cheaper. This costs RM18 but sometimes you can get it for RM10 during sales. Read the full review here. I may not sound as enthusiast about this mascara on my old review post, but as time goes by I find myself reaching more for this mascara more than any others that I own.

5. Silkygirl Expert Brow Slim Liner

Another Silkygirl Product! This brow pencil is not disappointing at all. It has a round micro pencil which I always prefer than slanted eyebrow products. The spoolie on the other end feels sturdy and not too rough. But most importantly, the shade 02 Dark Brown is the perfect match for me. This brow pencil is claimed to be waterproof too so it will last for a very long time. It's probably not the cheapest in the drugstore given so many other options from other brands, but it is still affordable at RM21.60.

Until next time, bye bye!
