Iman Ridzuan

I am finally sitting down here to talk about almost everyone's holy grail, the infamous Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper! It has been a craze for makeup junkie and I have used it enough to understand why.

This eyeliner comes in a form of a pen liner and I am so used to liquid liners that comes with a separate applicator like the in2it liquid liner, which is my favourite from the drugstore. And the applicator is made up of super fine brush tip, which again, I am so used to using liners with felt tip. The cap of this pen has a spring technology built in it to ensure it is air tight and your product won't dry up too fast. Right when I got it, I thought I got to spend a little play time with this eyeliner to get used to the application, but boy I was wrong.

Hand Swatch

Never in my life thought that I could draw my eyeliner in seconds. I am not gonna lie that winged liners to me is not the hardest part of makeup, thanks to myself for practicing since high school. Eyeliner has always been my favourite part of makeup after lipsticks. But, with this eyeliner it makes the application 10 times easier and faster. The tip of the brush is very thin making the application super precise. You can see how I can draw a very thin and thick line on the hand swatch.

The way that the tip of this eyeliner is constructed makes the application soooo smooth and effortless. I usually need to like hold my breath with 100% concentration when doing my cat eyes. With the Kat Von D, it's just like, dup dup*insert magic wand action* and I'm done! I think I need to check out more eyeliners from other brands that have a brush tip applicator. Suggest me if you know any.

Smudge Test

With every eyeliners, I will do some tests to see how good the eyeliner is. I'd say the Kat Von D stays pretty strong on my hand, I have to rub real hard to get it move. So if you're someone who always unintentionally rubs their eyes, don't worry. I highly doubt that you would rub your eyes till it turned red like my hand did lol. So as long as you're gentle around the eyes, it will stay put.

Water Test

(1)

(2)

I poured some water on the two lines that I drew. Without touching it, the eyeliner stays on and doesn't melt off or anything (1) I rubbed the lines a little bit and the eyeliner seems to fade in flakes instead of smudging everywhere, which I love. So if you're looking for an eyeliner that you can go on swimming with, as long as you don't touch the eyeliner, you'll be fine!

With eyeliners

We talked about the goods, but nothing is perfect aite? The only downside to me with this eyeliner is the pigmentation. I mean yeah, it's black, but it's thin black with a sheen finish. As you can see my catrice eyeliner from the drugstores performs way more opaque with matte finish which what I always prefer for an eyeliner. It's basically a personal preference, so while I prefer the pigmentation to be a blacker black, other people might think that it is just perfect. Some people have been complaining about how theirs dry up pretty quickly, but I have had mine since May this year and it is still doing a great job!

I totally get the fact that this is a Ride or Die eyeliner for a lot of people, because it has become mine too. I hope Kat Von D will release a darker shade because this liner, is amazing. 5/5!

Pros :

  • Long lasting
  • Precise application
  • Waterproof
  • Air tight cap
Cons :
  • A little bit expensive
  • Thin pigmentation

Hey there! Thought I would share what I always bring if I ever need to touch up my makeup after prayer when I'm out or at work. I usually will not redo a full face makeup because ain't nobody got time for that, so the products that I'll bring are only the essentials for that natural no makeup makeup look.

1. Makeup remover wipes

Girls, please please please take off all of your makeup before you take your wudhu. I don't think I should explain why. Looove this one by Biore so much. It literally takes off everything, even the most stubborn waterproof mascara! The cloths are so smooth and very saturated with makeup remover. I take less time to remove everything when I use this compared to any other makeup wipes. I don't even know how many packets of this I've been through lol.

2. Pixy Powder Foundation

Typically I won't bother about foundations and just go straight to blush for my face when doing reapplication, but when I do want a little bit of something, a little bit of evening of the skin tone, I always opt for this Pixy powder foundation as they are easier and faster to use. Plus, it already comes with a mirror so I don't have to carry a separate pocket mirror.

3. Blush

Mini blushes like this one from tarte their trial kit is very convenient to travel with. They're so tiny but a little bit goes a long way I have no idea when will I be able to hit pan because I literally have been using it every single day, and obviously you can still see the craving on the surface of the blush. Amazing. And to apply that I bring along my usual powder brush as a blush brush haha.

4. Highlighter

Highlighters usually comes in a huge pan, so this one by Colorpop is so good to carry around because they're stored in a small twist up container. Another reason why I love carrying this for touch ups is because the texture is like a cream to powder highlighter so I can just use my finger to apply and not worrying about carrying a highlight brush.

5. Eyebrow pencil

Having your eyebrows done can make a huge difference when you're not wearing a lot of makeup. I love to use this one by silkygirl because they're super easy to use, and it even comes with a spoolie! Everything you need in a stick. The pencil is pigmented and super blendable, basically the best eyebrow pencil from the drugstore.

6. Mascara

I usually bring along my Tarte mini mascara, but lately I've been loving Silkygirl's Lash Prism mascara so much. It is the only mascara in my collection that won't smudge or budge even when I cry or sweat. I wore this for a night marathon and oh my god, it my lashes stay on fleek at the end of the night with no clumps of mascara fallout at all! When you're not wearing a full face makeup, you want to draw people's attention to your eyes instead of all those pigmentations or acne on your face. So mascara is important! Unless if you're already blessed with thick and long lashes, you do you.

7. Lip balm and lipstick

These duos. I won't ever put a lipstick on a dry lips so it's important for me to carry around a lip balm because I naturally have very dry lips. Favourite lip balm would be this one by in2it. Very moisturizing and it even has SPF20! For the lipstick, I just bring whatever lipstick I'm wearing on that day. But the one that has been my go to everyday lip color is Silkygirl's matte junkie in the color 01 Retro. Another Silkygirl yea, I just love Silkygirl.

And that completes it. Don't underestimate my small Sephora makeup pouch, it really can carry a ton! What is your essentials for touch up? Leave a comment down below!

Hello again! Let's just get straight to the point. This product is just an okay cleanser for me and here are the reasons why.

I was looking for a good gentle cleanser because ya'll know homegirl can never stick to just one product unless she really really really really loves it. I mean, the Mario Badescu Enzyme cleanser had done amazing for my skin, it's just that I am bored and wanted to try out something new since I ran out of it. Mengada kan? So since I fall in love with Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (review coming soon), I thought I would give their cleanser a try.

I was debating on which one to get because there are certain types of them for every skin type. I remembered how my skin don't really react well towards foaming cleansers if I use them with my Clarisonic, so i went ahead and bought the Extra Mild (Type 1) since it's the only one out of the three types that do not lather up.

The texture of this cleanser is like a lightweight creamy formula with mild sweet scent. It's fragrance free though. As I said, the cleanser doesn't lather up, but it turns into a milky consistency once in contact with water. It would suit better if they call this a milky cleanser instead of liquid soap.

Turns into a milky texture once in contact with water

To be honest, I don't really like using this with my clarisonic. It somehow leaves my clarisonic unclean, kind leaves like a film of oil even after several rinse. I have to use a different soap to make sure the clarisonic head is totally clean after every wash. There being said, I only use this cleanser in the morning as I need to use my clarisonic at night time to get rid of every trances of makeup. And it works greaaaat as a very gentle moisturizing morning cleanser. Like my brush head, my face also experience that film of slickness after I rinse the cleanser off, but it doesn't make my skin oily or anything throughout the day. More like it moisturizes my face. Perfect if you don't like that type of cleansers that strip off all of the natural oil on your face.

Do I experience any big changes with this cleanser? Well, other than it does not cause my skin to produce more oil like most of other foaming cleansers do, nah. Oh yeah maybe a little change. I notice that I get more clogged pores when I was using this for my night cleanser, even when I do double cleanse with oil makeup remover first. So I guess it does not do a great job at removing makeup. Bear in mind that this cleanser is recommended for people with very dry to dry skin, but it works okay for my combination skin as well. I mean, if you're someone who do not wear makeup on regular basis, this would be a great moisturizing daily and nightly cleanser. But for me, I'd totally need something that is stronger to clean my skin during the night. Type 2 or 3 of this cleanser probably would suit me better. Just because it doesn't work for me does not mean it won't work for your skin. Until then, see ya!

Pros :
  • Moisturizing
  • Very gentle
  • Do not strip the oil from the face
Cons :
  • Some people may despise the film it leaves after rinsing
  • Doesn't do well at removing makeup
